The Ozark Cultural Resources Center (OCRC) at the Ozark Folk Center (OFC) in Mt. View, Arkansas, was established in 1976 with Dr. William Kinneth “Bill” McNeil as Folklife Director. Under the direction of the foremost Arkansas and Ozark folklorist and historian, the OCRC amassed a substantial collection of history and folklore books, recordings of music from the mid-19th and mid-20th centuries including live performances at the Ozark Folk Center beginning with its inception in 1973, rare sheet music, vertical files related to folk crafts, photographs, and manuscript materials. Following McNeil’s death in 2005, the OCRC materials were transferred to the Arkansas History Commission, another division of the Arkansas Department of Parks and Tourism.
